London, UK, 05/05/2021. London, UK. Leading Enterprise Video, IPTV and Digital Signage manufacturer Tripleplay delivers Virtual TV Remote Control functionality as a key feature within the new Caveman 3.1 software release.
This new functionality enables users of the interactive IPTV Portal to use a personal mobile device as a virtual remote control, helping to reduce any possible touch contamination risk and create a more personal user experience.
A TV remote control is inevitably handled by many people and can be a point of viral or bacterial transmission, now a key concern for hoteliers across the globe. Simply scanning a QR code displayed on the screen converts a personal device to a remote control, removing any concerns over device sharing.
In some environments, such as hotels, using a personal device means guests can access and experience their own content from their device (BYOC) on the in-room TV such as content from a user’s Netflix account. This delivers a personalized in-room experience for guests, and one which can be easily managed by hotel operators.
Simon Carp, Tripleplay head of product management commented, “As employees or guests return to normality, allaying health and safety concerns is critically important and this simple new feature will provide a level of reassurance.
“For hotels, the interactive TV portal is not just a way to provide live and recorded TV to guests but an invaluable channel to promote other services on offer, this is uniquely placed to drive Revenue per available room (RevPAR) and can be fully integrated with the property’s PMS.”
