DSM 3 Release Notes

These release notes describe the features and limitations for the Digital Signage Manager (DSM) software version 3.1.

To report to a DSM, a Net-Top-Box (NTB) must be at software version V7.1.0 or later.

To use the DSM Remote Setup facility a Net-Top-Box (NTB) must be at software version V8.1.0 or later.

The DSM Web User Interface is supported and tested in the following browsers:

• Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, 8 and 9, 10
• Latest Mozilla Firefox
• Latest Apple Safari
• Latest Google Chrome

NEW IN V3.2.3

The following improvements have been made:

PROBLEMS FIXED

• Fixes the issue of cross connections when connecting to players over VPN.
• Ensures manually set CA chain is used if available.

KNOWN LIMITATIONS

• The DSM software update process will fail if ‘Use Proxy if Configured’ is enabled on the Software Update page. Please set this option to ‘No Proxy required’.
• The DSM does not support an HTTP proxy.
• It may take up to 2 minutes for changes to donated remote setup and players folder membership to be reflected in the Remote Setup Update Late alarm state.

• Fixes an issue with timezone not being respected.
• Adds support for Static IP configuration using console. This is useful for configuring appliances in DHCP less environments.
• Change default number of Players to 100 in List View.

After the software has been updated, it may take a couple of hours depending on the media audit data size before services become available as the post update process optimises Media Audit database. Please do not switch off DSM during this period. The UI may timeout during this process.

NEW IN V3.1.1 (Only available on newer Hardware)

The following improvements have been made:

• Scalability has been improved.
• Context menu in List View.
• Each organisation will be set to retain reports and media audit data for 90 days. This can be changed in Organisation Settings. “Prune Database” in Scheduled Jobs” must be enabled for this to take effect.
• Support Snap Shot command is available from the maint menu.

There is no software update as older hardware is obsolete and does not scale.

NEW IN V3.0.0

The following improvements have been made:

NEW FEATURES

• Remote Setup allows the configuration of players to be controlled from the DSM.
• Improved Alarms page presents the alarms in logical groups each in its own tab.
• Player names used when available where serial number is shown.
• Simplified initial setup:
  • Until an Organisation is setup the Home page tells you how to setup an organisation.
  • Setting up an organisation is now a one step process that asks for the organisation name and all the usernames that are needed.
  • VPN is enabled by default.
• The Players tab can now be filtered to only show players with alarms. This replaces the Alarms tab.
• DSM now has a Technical Reference manual documenting its APIs.
• New APIs have been added for this release. See the Technical Reference for details of all APIs.

PROBLEMS FIXED

• Improved performance: External SQL access to Media Audit data has been significantly improved. When using cursors to access media audit data the database will start returning unsorted data immediately.
• Issues with alarm state being incorrect have been fixed.
• Support snapshot no longer includes a database backup. This keeps the size of the support snap shot small.
• Test email issue has fixed.

• Windows version 4.0.4 of Apple Safari: When the DSM reports errors to the user Safari will hang. Use another browser until Apple fixes the problem.
