DSM 2 Release Notes

These release notes describe the features and limitations for the Digital Signage Manager (DSM) software version 2.

To report to a DSM, a Net-Top-Box (NTB) must be at software version V7.1.0 or later.
The DSM Web User Interface is supported and tested in the following browsers:
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and 8. Note Internet Explorer 6 is not supported.
• Mozilla Firefox 3.0 and 3.6
• Apple Safari 4

NEW IN V2.2.0

The following improvements have been made:
New features:
• New Organisation summary allowing more organisation to be seen at the same time.
• Map View can now show Players and Folders as pin icons.
• Disk and CPU over temperature Alarms are now checked against a safety margin, not an absolute temperature. This allow players with normal temperature and high temperature disks to be monitored.
• Player details page shows more information including:
o The IP address a player last reported in from.
o Schedule name and type.
• Option to control the time between status updates. Defaults to 30 seconds.
• Improved Player Page allows Player name to be changed.
• System Status page shows disk temperature history for the DSM, ethernet counters and hardware information.
• New User permission “Organisation Media Audit View”.
• Support synchronising time with NTP from a Windows Server.
Problems fixed:
• Improved performance: Query performance has been improved for the case where a DSM has a lot of historical report data.
• Alarm handling has been change to correct problems with alarms being raised or lowered at the wrong time.
• Fixed: Deleting a Player or an Organisation could timeout and fail. Now a progress bar is shown and the deleting will complete.
• Fixed: Player names within an organisation must be unique.
• Fixed: FTP bandwidth limit can now be raised to 125,000kiB which allows 1GB ethernet to be fully used.
• Fixed: Publisher Error alarm was being raised and lowered multiple times when a multi-channel publisher’s report with publisher errors was received. This causes email notifications to sent each time a report was received.
• Fixed: Name of Subscriber Transfer Late and Publisher Transfer Late alarms.

KNOWN LIMITATIONS

• The DSM software update process will fail if ‘Use Proxy if Configured’ is enabled on the Sofware Update page. Please set this option to ‘No Proxy required’.
• The DSM does not support an HTTP proxy.
• Windows version 4.0.4 of Apple Safari: When the DSM reports errors to the user Safari will hang. Use another browser until Apple fixes the problem.

NEW IN V2.1.0

The following improvements have been made:

New features:

• DSM supports a secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) used to communciate with NTB players allowing:
o Browsing to the NTB Web User Interface via the VPN for remote management.
o SSH to the NTB via the VPN for remote management.
o Receiving status reports from NTB players via the VPN.
• Media Audit feature:
o Media Audit data from NTB players is stored on the DSM.
o Simple Media Audit data queries are supported in the DSM Web interface.
o External software can query Media Audit data from the DSM SQL database.
• NTB players can now be given a name.
• The DSM Firewall is now permanently enabled.
• The Map View and Status pages have been merged.
• Improved icons used by the DSM Web interface.

Problems fixed:

• Improved performance: DSM can now support 1,000 NTB players reporting every 60 seconds.
• Fixed: Sometime the Report Overdue alarm would be left raised after a new report arrives.

KNOWN LIMITATIONS
