Today, 11th December 2017 Tripleplay celebrates the 16th anniversary of its conception and founding. Established in the UK in 2001 by current CEO, Steve Rickless and COO, Graeme Ogilvie, the business was established as a consultancy for those wanting to deploy IP media solutions and IPTV specifically.

The company was appointed to work with some of the earliest pioneers of IPTV technology,  including long term partner Amino, deploying solutions for the home, hospital and hotel environments, but it wasn’t long before the founders realised there was a gap in the market for a hardware agnostic, software based solution and appointed Dr. Peter Martin to begin the task of developing a software IPTV headend that could be deployed onto standards based hardware.

The company went from strength to strength, employing Paul Harris to lead business development and soon deploying its IPTV head end solution across the world. This was followed quickly by the natural addition of a VOD platform and, seeing the way the market was moving, the development of an integrated digital signage platform.

Following this development Tripleplay then found itself ideally placed to start getting specified into a number of marquee locations, including for two stadia at Africa’s 1st world cup in South Africa in 2010.

Following the addition of the digital signage platform Tripleplay opened offices in Spain and Australia and then turned its attention to mobile and desktop video releasing its TripleStream technology and it’s Media Portal for enterprise video and campus video delivery solution.

Around the time Tripleplay began appointing value added resellers around the world to help provide an enhanced client experience and to broaden its brand’s reach.

In 2012 Tripleplay became one of the world’s first IP video businesses to deliver a solution to smart TVs, integrating directly on to Philips, Samsung and LG hospitality TVs soon following this up by becoming the first, and still only, digital signage and IPTV platform able to deliver encrypted video to Samsung’s SSP range; deploying over 10,000 end points globally.

Since then Tripleplay has gone from strength to strength opening office locations in the USA, Singapore and the Middle East, releasing support for BrightSign Media Players and LG webOS, brand new desktop and mobile video apps, a super low latency HD encoder and a content sharing app, PlayMedia.

Tripleplay has always led and others have tried to follow, here’s to another 16 years of innovation, leadership and success!
